Wenzhou Introduction

Wenzhou City lies in the middle of China"s coastline, bordering on the East China Sea and standing by the O"jiang River. It is the economic, political and cultural communication centre in the south of Zhejiang Province. Under its jurisdiction there are 3 districts (Lucheng, Longwan and O"hai), 2 cities at county level (Ruian and Yueqing) and 6 counties (Yongjia, Dongtou, Pingyang, Cangnan, Wencheng and Taishun). In accordance with the statistics by the end of 1998, the population of Wenzhou was 7.18 million. Wenzhou covers a total land area of 11,784 square kilometers. The city enjoys exceptional advantages of tourism resources, the acreage of scenic spots accounting for 22.2 percent of the total territory of the city. Wenzhou has a coastline of 355 kilometers from the north to the south. Endowed by the nature with superior conditions, Wenzhou Port has listed 20 hub ports along the coastal area of China by the Ministry of Communications.
