Yinchuan Introduction

As the capital of Ningxia, YINCHUAN is a pleasant place that has prospered from the proximity of the Yellow River since earliest times. Historically this city became well known in the Western Xia Period (1038-1237 AD), when the founder of the kingdom, Li Yuanhao, established the city as his capital.

The sights of Yinchuan are all located in Laocheng. Try, in particular, to reach the city"s most interesting sight, the mysterious Xixia Wangling, or Mausoleums of the Western Xia, some 20km outside the city.

Xincheng (New City) is quite far from Laocheng (Old City). If you take a taxi from Xincheng to Laocheng, it would cost Y15. I suggest you stay and have meals in Laocheng. The bus station is in Laocheng too.
