A century as a northern trading center, useful for its ports and transport systems
south, Hebei owns a good variety of specialties for the shopper. You can try herb hunting
at the annual Herb Medicinal Fair held in Anguo, you can
sample the potent, sticky Shacheng White Wine, you can purchase the shell
handicrafts in Qinhuangdao,
or simply grab some shells off the beach. One of the most famous products produced in the province come from the so called
"china city" in the north, Tangshan. Tangshan was almost ruined
in the earthquake that shook through the area 30 years ago, but has now regained its
liveliness. The local Bone China is the most famous in China, adding
glamour to this newly reborn city. The stone carvings of Quyang and the wood carvings of Chengde are a few of the
