Being the transfer hinge of Eastern, Northern and mid-lands parts of China, Hebei
has already set up a complex transportation network, either by air, by land and on rail.
By plane: The two major cities, Shijiazhuang and Qinhuangdao are accessible
via air. The Shijiazhuang airport has grown into an international one where flights from a
dozen major cities like Shanghai,
Beijing, Dalian, Guangzhou and even Hong Kong take off weekly or
some daily. There are also seasonal flights from Beijing to Chengde and Beijing to Qinhuangdao.
By train: 15 railway lines meets in Hebei, with some local railways and
subs. Among them, the backbones are Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Taiyuan,
and Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan. There are also tourist lines
connecting Beijing-Qinhuangdao, Beijing-Chengde.
By bus: The land transportation system is fairly complex in Hebei. It has
a total length of 607 kilometres superhighway, which stands for the third among the 25
provinces in China. Buses connect almost every corner in this province.
By boat: Qinhuangdao
is the second largest sea ports of the coastal area. Boats to other major seaports,
including Shanghai, Dalian, are available weekly.
Freshwater transportation is also convenient in Hebei province for it has
a complex network of freshwater ways at a total length of 300 kilometres. |
